Child Abuse

In this blog we will present various topics on child abuse for example: what is child abuse? how to prevent it? and information about child abuse in Puerto Rico.As defined by The Gale encyclopedia of everday law (2006) "Child abuse occurs when a parent or caretaker physically, emotionally, or sexually mistreats or neglects a child resulting in the physical, emotional, or sexual harm or exploitation, or imminent risk of harm or exploitation, or in extreme cases the death, of a child. Laws regarding child abuse seek to protect children while at the same time allowing parents the right to raise and discipline their children as they see fit".The purpose of this blog is to inform and prevent child abuse.

The number of children who are abused by their parents or guardians has increased in recent years. The consequences of this abuse can be harmful to health and normal development more than most people realize. This problem has social implications, but is everyone's responsibility to protect children.
